Rwanda’s Kigali, November 1, 2023: The University of Rwanda and its African Centre of Excellence in Energy for Sustainable Development (ACEESD) are pleased to announce the second Grid Innovation and Incubation Hub (GIIH) Innovation Week, which will take place from November 8–10, 2023, in collaboration with regional and international partners. The event, which is being organized by JASIRI, will take place during Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Rwanda with the theme “Entrepreneurs Thrive Here.” Among the important collaborators of the GEW is the University of Rwanda.
Innovation specialists and stakeholders from Rwanda as well as the larger global entrepreneurship network will be present at the event. This event, which will take place at the Kigali Exhibition and Conference Village, is anticipated to draw at least 250 delegates.With the theme “Scaling up university enabled innovation for a thriving Rwanda and Africa,” participants from academia, the public and private sectors, policymakers, and young innovators will talk about opportunities and priorities in innovations that solve problems, have an impact, effect change, and add value to both the Sustainable Development Goals and the national strategy for transformation vision 2050.
“We believe that transforming learning environments into spaces for student-led innovation and entrepreneurship and using living lab approaches in research and teaching will build capacity, address the skills gap, and steer proposed solutions to catalyse a more sustainable and inclusive future for Africa,” says Prof. Didas Kayihura Muganga, vice chancellor of the University of Rwanda.The goals of UR Innovation Week are as follows:• Drawing in participants and sponsors dedicated to advancing locally relevant and sustainable innovation.
